31,800 for corps members, payment starts soon.
The much anticipated new minimum wage (31,800) for National Youth Service Corps Members has been include in the 2020 Appropriation bill (budget) submitted to the Senate for ratification and approval.
The minister for Youth and Sports development who has been assuring Corps members since he became the minister on the new allowance said the payment will cover for all those serving presently either stream A, B or C.
He said the payment will commence immediately the 2020 budget is signed into law.
He stated further that the ministry under him is not working on increase in allowance alone but also on program that can develop the members and make the ready for future.
He gave insight about the new program developed by the ministry to develop youths called DY.NG which will run for two months out of the national youth service year with a certificate at the end of the program for participant, the program is said to be different from Skill Acquisition Program (SAED) presently offered by the NYSC.
